Fiordland

Fiordland features New Zealand's largest National Park. It is, also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Driving the road from Te Anau to Milford Sound had long been on my bucket list. An epic drive along a windy road, through native forests and the mountains.

The Catlins

On the East Coast of the deep South of the South Island, the Catlins have a dramatic landscape of rugged coasts, native forests and stunning waterfalls. Hidden amongst the bays are seals and the native Hoiho - yellow eyed penguin.

Aoraki / Mount Cook

We camped out at the foot of Aoraki / Mount Cook. I was super keen to hike to the base of the mountain in time for sunrise. When I climbed out of the tent at 5.30am a glorious sunrise was shining out between the mountains. "Come and look at the sunrise!" I squealed in delight. "I'm coming for you, don't ask for enthusiasm" was the response. After breakfast they admitted it was worth getting up for.
