Cross Country

Mongolia is one of my most epic adventures. I spent 4 weeks there. With no plan on arrival, I met a traveler who convinced me to go with him on a 15 day, cross country trip to Western Mongolia. It took 5 days of driving to arrive in the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. We hiked 50km to visit the Potanin Glacier, climb the Herder Peak, and hike back out again.

On the way we visited Eagle Hunters, watched wrestlers practise for the Naadam festival, stayed in the homes of driver's family, camped by rivers, and had to push the van out of a river bed. The roads were truly awful. The people were truly amazing. And the landscapes were incredible. (The landscape photos are on a separate page under Landscapes.)
